Our performing arts room and classroom ateliers encourage children to explore the hundred languages: dance, drama, music, painting and more. With dedicated spaces for whānau dialogue and a central piazza that acts as the community hub, Bear Park Remuera is a place where relationships and connections are reaffirmed every day.
Building a sustainable, eco-friendly centre has always been central to our vision at Bear Park Remuera. With our own beehive and composting system, we are committed to nurturing a sustainable future. Our central piazza acts as the heart of the centre – a place for families, children and teachers to engage, connect and develop relationships. We believe that through offering diverse opportunities for expression, our children develop a stronger sense of self-worth.
A place where the process of inquiry is valued as much as the outcome.
Our Children
Our children's ideas & theories are heard and valued therefore building upon their confidence to become a life-long learner and risk taker.
Our Teachers
Our teacher's genuine engagement with the children, as they navigate alongside them into the realm of discovery and learning, shows the respect and importance that they have for their role.
Our Environment
Our environment is designed with the endless invitations and proposals offered to enrich and challenge our child's thinking & hypothesising.
At Bear Park Remuera, transparency is built into the fabric of the centre. Glass walls, doors and windows allow children, teachers and whanau to share in each other's learning at every turn, making the learning process visible to all.
As a teaching team we honour children as individuals and value their unique ideas and ways of communicating. We aspire for children to experience an environment that offers collaborative experiences alongside an unhurried pace to develop and learn. Our practice is strongly inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, the RIE approach, and Te Whariki. Through our Buddy System, we promote collaborative partnerships between children, parents and teachers.
In the Morepork room, we nurture meaningful reciprocal relationships between children, whanau, and teachers. We promote a supportive and inclusive environment that enables children to develop a strong sense of belonging. We value children's exploration through play and foster collaborative work in small groups, supporting them to share their ideas alongside their peers.
The Kea teachers promote a culture of trust, respect and collaboration in our classroom. We actively listen to the children and are passionate about creating an environment where they can encounter challenges within an atmosphere of trust and support. We recognise the magic and wonder children encounter on their learning journeys and have a shared understanding of how to support and extend their interests while maintaining a sense of joy.
As a teaching team, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment that celebrates each individual child and their knowledge, strength and culture. We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia Philosophy and encourage each child's unique self-expression through the hundred languages. We view ourselves as lifelong learners, enriching our practice through ongoing professional development, research and reflection.

Remuera train station is a 7 minute walk, Remuera Road village shops are a 5 minute drive, and the centre is next door to the Remuera Rackets Club. How many children per teacher are there?
At Bear Park Remuera we keep our groups intentionally small so every kaiako can genuinely know every child in their care. Knowing how a child communicates, what makes them light up, what they need when they're unsettled, that depth is what makes truly excellent early childhood education possible. Our ratios exceed licensing minimums, and our infant and toddler rooms are especially well-staffed.
Are your staff certified in early childhood education?
Every kaiako at Bear Park Remuera is supported by our Curriculum and Operations team, experienced qualified teachers in leadership roles who mentor staff and ensure the delivery of well-rounded, tailored curriculum at the centre. At least 80% of our kaiako hold an ECE or Primary teaching qualification at NZQA Level 7 or above, with Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand registration. Our Centre Director brings extensive ECE sector experience to the leadership of the centre.
What ages does Bear Park Remuera cover?
Bear Park Remuera caters for tamariki aged 3 months to 5 years. Our continuity of care approach means your pēpi can stay with us right through to starting school, with trusted kaiako alongside them.
What are your fees and do you accept childcare subsidies?
For current fee information, please contact Bear Park Remuera. We participate in the New Zealand Government's 20 Hours ECE funding for eligible three- and four-year-olds.
Is Bear Park Remuera accepting new child enrolments?
Contact the Bear Park Remuera team to discuss availability. Spaces are limited and tend to fill quickly, so we encourage whānau to enquire as early as possible.
