Our Children
Every child is special, which is why we have created learning and exploration spaces filled with magic, joy and wonder.
Our Whanau
We are constantly striving to create a home away from home for you and your tamariki: a place of warmth, care and the utmost respect.
Our Community
Our welcoming, multilingual environments embrace and celebrate the diversity of our children, whanau and wider community.
Our expansive spaces, wonder-filled classrooms and dedicated teaching team enable each child to delve deep into their interests with confidence.
The Fantails are our precious little infants, who can join us from the age of three months. We believe in building strong and reciprocal relationships with our children, parents and whanau. We value the child's home as their first special encounter and want to support this by providing a loving and respectful environment. We see our children as detailed researchers and provide them with an environment that provokes curiosity and wonder.
The Keas are a vibrant and active group of toddlers. We value independence and view our children as competent and capable researchers. The Kea children are encouraged to collaborate during group learning experiences, fostering positive relationships. A lot of these learning experiences take place in the outdoors as we value the natural world and how we can care for it.
The Kiwi group is the youngest group of children in our collaborative preschool environment. New and transitioning children can develop a sense of belonging through reciprocal relationships with their peers, family, community, teachers and our rich learning environment. We believe through an environment rich in respect and trust our learning community will feel empowered.
Our Tui group follows on from the Kiwis and children join us at around 3.5 years old. The Tuis are very hands-on and love to explore through creating and working in small groups. We believe that strong, respectful relationships are of high importance in our learning environment. Through our interactions with the Tuis we aspire to support holistic development and inspire a sense of joy and wonder in learning, creating passionate life-long learners.

Bear Park Mt Eden is at 32 Akiraho Street, Mt Eden, Auckland 1024. Maungawhau Station on Auckland's City Rail Link is a 5 minute walk, with direct connections to Britomart and the CBD. Mt Eden village is a 3 minute walk. Open Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 6.00pm. Nearby suburbs: Sandringham, Balmoral, Kingsland, Three Kings, Dominion Road.
What is the teacher-to-child ratio?
Small groups make it possible for kaiako to really listen. At Bear Park Mt Eden we keep our ratios well above the minimum so educators have the time and space to follow each child's lead, document their learning deeply, and build relationships that matter. In our infant rooms, groups are especially small so babies receive calm, consistent, attentive care.
What are the qualifications and experience levels of your staff?
Bear Park Mt Eden is a team of kaiako committed to their own ongoing learning as much as their tamariki's. At least 80% hold an ECE or Primary teaching qualification at NZQA Level 7 or above, and are registered with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand. Our Centre Director brings extensive ECE sector experience, and every teacher is mentored by our Curriculum and Operations team to ensure well-rounded, tailored teaching practice.
Which age groups can attend Bear Park Mt Eden?
Bear Park Mt Eden is open to tamariki from 3 months old through to 5 years. Our continuity of care model means children stay in the same loving environment from their earliest days to school.
What are your fees and do you accept childcare subsidies?
Please reach out to Bear Park Mt Eden for current fee information. We participate in the 20 Hours ECE programme, which provides eligible three- and four-year-olds with 20 subsidised hours per week.
