Our commitment
Nurturing Collaboration

We’re committed to working collaboratively, always striving for both children and whānau to feel welcome, appreciated and heard.

Our Children

Our children come to us full of wonder, with a curious nature and a desire to make discoveries. We see each child as a unique individual, and our programme is shaped around their interests, their questions and their growing understanding of the world.

Our Teachers

Our passionate and committed teaching team thrives on discovering who your child is and what makes them unique. With deep respect for our bi-cultural heritage and years of experience, our kaiako create a welcoming, inclusive environment where every child can flourish and be known.

Our Environment

Our teaching spaces are split between four large rooms, each opening to a generous outdoor environment. Children encounter meandering pathways, native trees and a river bed that encourages adventurous, nature-led play – helping young minds appreciate the richness of the natural world.

Our Focus
The Foundation of Our Practice

At Bear Park Mairangi Bay, relationships come first. For more than two decades, we’ve nurtured lasting partnerships with children and whānau, creating a community where families feel confident to return with siblings, knowing their children will be known, valued and supported.

After looking at around nine different daycares, choosing Bear Park Mairangi Bay was one of the best decisions we've made. From the very beginning, the environment felt welcoming, calm, and genuinely child-focused.

We are so grateful to be part of the Bear Park Mairangi Bay community and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to other families looking for a nurturing, high-quality early childhood centre.

We couldn't be happier with Bear Park Mairangi Bay! Our son has been enrolled here since he was 1.5 years old, and the growth we've seen in him has been incredible.

We were first recommended Bear Park Mairangi Bay by friends, and it has truly been one of the best decisions we've made for our family. I highly recommend it to any parents who are looking for a nurturing and trustworthy daycare.

Our Learning Spaces

Our Pepe Room is purposefully designed for infants, creating a peaceful, secure setting that supports early learning through connection and care. Small group sizes and intimate spaces allow teachers to respond closely to each baby’s cues, building trust and confidence in those crucial early months.

Led by an experienced and deeply caring team, the Pepe Room offers families consistency, guidance and reassurance. Relationships are strong, communication is open, and every child is nurtured with intention and respect.

The Fantail Room is led by a passionate and experienced infant and toddler teaching team who feel privileged to build meaningful relationships with children under two. They create a nurturing, responsive environment where first milestones and everyday discoveries are celebrated with care and intention. Supported by an additional team member during meal and sleep times, the room maintains calm, consistent rhythms that help children feel secure. Strong partnerships with parents and whānau are central to the Fantail Room, with teachers taking time to build genuine connections so the space feels like a true extension of home for every family.

The Kingfisher Room is thoughtfully designed for children aged two and three, offering intimate spaces for focused exploration alongside areas for shared group experiences. The teaching team understands the unique balance this age requires, supporting growing independence while providing consistent guidance and care. Children are encouraged to share their ideas, questions and theories with peers, teachers and whānau, building confidence in their voice. Through intentional planning and responsive relationships, the team supports each child as they deepen their understanding of the world around them and develop the foundations for lifelong learning.

The Moa Room is our preschool environment for three and four year olds, designed to nurture growing independence and confidence. Our experienced teaching team brings diverse strengths and works collaboratively to extend each child’s learning, building strong partnerships with families and creating an environment that reflects children’s interests while encouraging exploration, creativity and self-discovery.

FAQs

Where is the Mairangi Bay centre located?

Bear Park Mairangi Bay is at 18 Apollo Drive, Mairangi Bay, Auckland 0630. Mairangi Bay School is a 4 minute walk, Constellation Drive shops are a 5 minute drive, and Mairangi Bay Beach is a 6 minute drive. A practical choice for families on the upper North Shore. Open Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 5.30pm. Nearby suburbs: Browns Bay, Pinehill, Forrest Hill, Torbay, Hillcrest.

What is the ratio between teachers and children?

Bear Park Mairangi Bay isn't the biggest centre on the North Shore, and that's a deliberate choice. Smaller groups mean better relationships, more responsive teaching, and environments where tamariki feel genuinely settled and secure. Our teacher-to-child ratios exceed what licensing requires, particularly in our infant and toddler rooms.

What level of experience do your teachers typically have working with young children?

Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand registration is a requirement for all qualified kaiako at Bear Park Mairangi Bay. At least 80% of our teaching team hold an ECE or Primary teaching qualification at NZQA Level 7 or above. Our Centre Director is a qualified, registered ECE teacher with substantial sector experience, and every member of our team is supported by our Curriculum and Operations leadership group.

What aged children does Bear Park Mairangi Bay accept?

Tamariki from 3 months to 5 years are welcome at Bear Park Mairangi Bay. Keeping children in a familiar, nurturing environment from infancy to school age helps build strong, trusting relationships.

What are your fees and do you accept childcare subsidies?

For fees and pricing, please contact Bear Park Mairangi Bay. Our team will walk you through costs and any government subsidies that may apply to your whānau, including the 20 Hours ECE programme.

Is Bear Park Mairangi Bay accepting new child enrolments?

To find out about availability at Bear Park Mairangi Bay, contact our team directly. We suggest enquiring early as our spaces fill up quickly.
