our Hobsonville Centre
Inside the historic Mill House at Hobsonville Point lives Bear Park's Hobsonville centre. The beautiful waterfront property, with amazing sea views and an acre of park-like grounds, has been re-designed as a purpose-built facility to serve the growing number of families in the area.

Children are invited to explore and play through large open spaces and intimate areas. The nurturing, family-like environment with richly resourced spaces and open-ended learning experiences serves to provoke each child's individual expression. We take great pride in our community and have forged strong connections through our regular excursions along the coastal walkway.

Our ethos
A Strength in Relationships

At Bear Park Hobsonville, we believe in the power of creating strong, respectful relationships with children, whānau and the world around us. Our nurturing, family-like environment – with richly resourced spaces and open-ended learning experiences – serves to provoke each child's individual expression. We take great pride in our community and have forged strong connections through our regular excursions along the coastal walkway that meanders past our front door.

Our commitment
A Strength in Relationships

We believe in the power of creating strong, respectful relationships with children, whanau and the world around us. Every family at Bear Park Hobsonville has a genuine place in our community.

Our Children

At Bear Park Hobsonville, our children are supported to feel secure, valued and confident in who they are. They are encouraged to investigate, experiment and follow their interests, building independence and resilience along the way. With caring guidance and positive relationships around them, our tamariki flourish as capable learners with a natural sense of curiosity about the world.

Our Teachers

At Bear Park Hobsonville, our teachers see each child as strong, capable and rich with potential. Through genuine, respectful relationships and intentional, reflective practice, we design learning experiences that inspire curiosity, imagination and growing confidence. The wellbeing of every child underpins our work, and we prioritise meaningful partnerships with whānau to foster a deep sense of belonging. As kaiako in Aotearoa, we honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi by embedding te reo Māori, tikanga and kaupapa Māori throughout our daily practice, recognising the special place of Māori as tangata whenua.

Our Environment

Located within the historic Mill House at Hobsonville Point, our centre combines heritage and thoughtful design in a unique waterfront setting. With wide open grounds, sea views and carefully considered spaces, children can move between collaborative areas and quieter corners that support creativity and self expression. Our indoor and outdoor spaces connect naturally, encouraging exploration and respect for the environment. Strong community connections, including regular walks along the nearby coastal pathway, help children develop a meaningful relationship with the place they call home.

Our Focus
The Foundation of Our Practice

At Bear Park Hobsonville, the professionalism and diversity within our teaching team creates a rich sense of culture. Children and whanau feel genuinely welcome, appreciated and heard in everything we do.

A wonderful team of teachers who take pride in what they do and understand the value of what they can bring to a child and the child's family life.

The environment is beautiful - both the Mill house and the outside area and the Kaiako put so much care and encouragement into making the spaces interesting for wee ones with curious minds as well as being incredibly nurturing and kind to help those big emotions.

Overlooking the water, the setting is amazing and so much nature play available for all the children in the spacious outside areas.

I dropped my niece off and what a gorgeous centre in a historic building with the most inviting learning spaces. The classrooms are beautifully set up and support all children to feel confident, capable and included.

Our Learning Spaces

In our Infant and Toddler rooms we believe in the capability of all our children to take control of their learning, to make discoveries and develop their working theories. We understand that our children do not come to our centre alone, but with their family behind them, and that it is important for us to acknowledge their kaupapa and work in partnership with them. Our environment is a reflection of the aspirations held by us, our children, and their families.

Children carry within themselves worlds of infinite, unimaginable and wonderful possibilities. In the Kea Room, we foster and extend these possibilities through meaningful and intentional learning experiences. We celebrate the uniqueness of each child and constantly seek ways to allow children to express themselves in ways that best align with who they are as individuals.

The Tui teaching team believe that all children are capable of achieving anything they put their minds to with the right support. The social and emotional wellbeing of a child is at the heart of all learning. We believe it is important that our tamariki take ownership of their environment, ensuring the development of confident, capable, independent world-wise learners.
